Steel detailer is a person who prepares and Checks the steel members drawings given by the Design Engineer,Connections in the form of Shop Drawings and Erection drawings which will be made by Fabricators and Erection is done by Erectors of the Buildings.
There is an Engineering and Architectural standard given for the selection of proper sheet sizes or templates for the drawings to be readable, and visibility along the proper view arrangements of the Drawings to the
Fabricators and Erectors.
The basic principles involved in arriving at these sizes are as
below.
1) x : y = 1 : √2
2)
xy = 1
Where x and y are the sides of having the surface as 1 m
^2.
So the x = 0.841 m
y=1.189 m
Bureau of Indian Standards (B.I.S.) are given the below sizes of trimmed sheets as selected from ISO-A Series as per SP 46:2003.
